Numerous world-class athletes and sports people have used hypnotherapy to help them achieve their full potential in their chosen field. There are three main areas involved with sports performance therapy that we can work on: confidence, motivation and method.

Confidence can sometimes be adversely affected if you have either had a negative experience, or if your general stress levels have increased for some reason. Hypnotherapy will help to restore and improve your confidence so that you feel you can and you will bring out your best performance. We will reduce general stress, as well as teaching you effective ways to remain calm and to relax. If you have had an unpleasant experience that is affecting your performance, we can gently and effectively remove any negative association, so you can return to enjoying your chose sport once again.

Motivation can often wane when we are feeling low, sad or depressed, or sometimes if we have just been out of the game for a while and need help getting back into the swing of training and practicing. Perhaps your new, or enhanced training schedule is challenging? With hypnotherapy, you will learn how to increase your motivation levels, to feel more energised and enthusiastic, and to derive more pleasure from working towards your goals.

The power of visual rehearsal cannot be over-stated. When we rehearse something in our mind, we actually improve both mentally and physically, as well as greatly enhancing our confidence and self-belief that we are able to execute the performance. With hypnotherapy, we can rehearse the method and execution of your performance. We do this while you are in trance, and the mind and body are relaxed and highly suggestible to learning.


Coaching is a partnership between the coach and client in the service of the their many goals. It does not look back at past traumas or relationships, but assesses where the client is at the present time, where they want to be in the future and why, and then works with the client to craft a plan to get there using specific, measurable, actionable and realistic steps. 
Coaches also act as accountability partners. They do not judge, but they do notice and explore why things did or did not happen and work with the client to craft an achievable plan forward. 

There are many reasons an individual would use a coach. One of the main reasons is to affect their performance which can be defined as a way to:

  • Assess the individuals potential

  • Maximise performance

  • Help acquire and develop skills

  • Identify what is going wrong and facilitate opportunities for development


Coaching is not about:

Neuro Linguistical Programming

So what is NLP?

NLP is a bit like an 'owners manual' for your brain!  At school and college we learned things like history and geography and algebra. But we did not learn much about how to feel good or to have great relationships. That's where NLP comes in

In short, Neuro-Linguistic Programming allows people to have more choices about their lives. For that reason, Dr Bandler, the inventor of the term "Neuro-Linguistic Programming", says that "Neuro-Linguistic Programming is about freedom."

Imagine your brain as a massive friendly computer and NLP as the software you choose to run.  If you can learn to  communicate with your mind  in its own language (ie run the programme of ‘successful strategy’ for the particular task at hand)  your mind will work with you, and for you, and help you achieve just about anything you want. The strategies that you run not only involve your thoughts, behaviour and subsequent actions, but the pictures you make in your head (and how and where you make them), the self talk you give yourself (not only what you say but  how you say it), your feelings and emotions (where and how you feel them) and how you choose to react and respond.

The term 'Soft skills' refers to the non-technical skills and competencies that impact a person’s capability to communicate successfully with colleagues and customers. These skills contain topics such as communication, conflict resolution and performance coaching. These are the same capabilities necessary to get a job, remain employed and progress in the work environment.

In a recent study from Harvard University, researchers found that a group of employees who were given soft skills training were 12 percent more productive than the group that did not receive the training.The training also improved the retention of employees.
